Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report initial examinations show the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; authorities are currently not informed of any harm in connection with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for information.
A senior official said the vandalism left him stunned and had to be resolved quickly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
