An individual who contaminated candy with sleeping medication and distributed them to minors at a summer program in the area has confessed to sexual crimes against two boys aged nine and ten years old.

The defendant was arrested after eight youngsters and one adult experienced illness at the facility in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from that region, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he denied one particular crime he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old boy.

The defendant was remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing on 28 November.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, handling the case, outlined Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.

She explained his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he operated.

The defendant conducted a "sweet game" with the minors, the legal counsel said, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".

She informed the proceedings the man had played this game with the young males "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.

She said the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had concerns in recently.

The prosecutor continued: "This year his family member had concerns about what was going on, justifiably.

"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."

The legal counsel said objects including lubricant, petroleum jelly and syringes were located, and his stepchild contacted the law enforcement about his concerns.

She stated the man proceeded to play the "treat game" with six youngsters that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.

"Authorities" had not arrived by that stage," she added.

The police watchdog, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.

The prosecutor said the minors were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson notified the police a second time.

She explained the man then played the "sweet game" in a area of five children.
